Welcome! Thank you for visiting the Ninja Moms blog.  I’m Nicole Mangina and the mother of Alex and Ryan, otherwise known as ‘Thing 1 and Thing 2’ and ‘the Monkies’.   I am also married to Gary ~ my incredible husband, best friend, love of my life, sounding board, number 1 fan, balance, and all around great guy.

Since getting my real estate license in 1996 I have built a successful real estate career in the Seattle, Washington area and absolutely love what I do.  I have always been a very driven and goal oriented person which has worked perfectly with my real estate career.  We have two main sayings in our house ~ ‘Failure is not an option’ and ‘Forward motion at all times’.

So there I was cruising along with  my business, growing it each year and having great success and then we decided to start a family.  Alex was born in 2004 and everything changed.  I was excited to be a mom from the moment I took that pregnancy test and saw the thing show up positive, but I had no idea how things would change once he was born.  I love my children with all of my heart and I am incredibly honored to be their mom.  Being a Mom AND having a career was a change that I was not prepared for.  Quite honestly I felt like I lost my identity.  I have always intended to work after having children, that wasn’t the problem, but the emotional and mental changes that happen after children caught me by surprise.  My time was no longer my own, there were all of these new things that I had to schedule around from Nannies, to Gary’s work schedule to be home and take care of the kids do nursing and the cursed breast pump.

It took me a while to figure out how it all fit together again ~ being a mom, wife, business owner, oh yeah and I’m suppose to fit in some ‘me’ time to replenish myself.  Gary was great, but my girlfriends really got me through it.  Let’s be honest, as women business owners we are a quirky bunch.  We are a bit bossy, like things our way and can’t figure out why the rest of the world doesn’t see it our way.  It takes a special friend to know all of your quirks, love you anyway and talk you off the ledge when necessary.  I can also say that my sense of humor has increased at least 100 fold in the last few years.  Some of the things than happen you just have to laugh about, because it’s life and it is funny!

So as I worked to reclaim my identity and my life (and continue to do so because just when I think I have it figured out we enter a new stage weather it’s no naps, Elementary school, sports, etc) I started reaching out to other women and Moms and found that we all struggle with the same things.

  • How on earth are we ever going to get it all done in a day? Or more accurately, come to terms with the fact that we will never get it all done in a day.
  • How can we set goals in our careers that move us forward but don’t mess up the family?
  • How do we stay sassy and feisty when we spend all day taking care of others?

Hence the creation of the Ninja Mom’s blog.  A place to find tips and tools for your life and business on what works and how to tweak what doesn’t and inspiration to move forward just a little bit each day.

Here are some of the great things you will find on the blog:

  • Encouragement that you CAN do it and ARE doing it!
  • Interviews with other Ninja Mom’s on what works for them and their tricks for success
  • Notes from my local Ninja Mom’s meetings held quarterly ~ be sure to read these, there are AMAZING ideas there
  • Book reviews.  We will be the same tomorrow as we are today with the exception of the places we go, the people we meet and the books we read.  I am an avid reader and always love to share a good pick.
  • The knowledge that you are not alone in your fears and frustrations and ideas on how to move forward.

Yes, our lives are crazy and a bit spastic at times, but isn’t that what makes it so fun!

Here’s to your success!
